1000 Polaroids!

Bingo!

February 23, 2010

Yesterday marked a very special day, being commissioned to design somebody elses photography portfolio. A (large) lumpsum of money has been pushed under nose and some stylish graphics have been finalized.

The Logo is pretty simple, yet I find it bloody stylish. Backgrounds can be easily changed throughout the whole webpage and, well. I’m still doing the rest.

Oh me oh my. I have a new Phone, too and I’ve only recently been making the most out of it, I bagged myself the Nokia N900.

I’ve also made cute contact avatars following the theme, although I may change these later.

And, I made a HOMEMADE VEGETABLE PIE!, like your mother used to!

January 27, 2010

After an extremely stressful day on Monday,
I pinpointed a list of current events which have made me happy and ones which haven’t.
I came to various conclusions.

I need to:
1. Move. (Although I’ve been saying this for a while)
2a. Finish the course through.
2b. Finish the course, even if I fuck it up, take it elsewhere.
2c. Quit the course.

I slept on it and picked ’1′ and ’2b’ eventually.
I couldn’t face going in yesterday as my leg’s in agony, after a stupid accident two Sundays ago, even though it seemed alright* on Monday.

I woke up this morning to a postcard from my new friend Chris, from postcrossing, an online postcard crossing project.
I’m fairly new to the site, it’s one Charlotte recommended me to join a while ago, I think mainly for the reason of looking at other built up cities and towns in relation to my ‘Pluto’ Project.

The postcard I received today restored my faith in karma and in people.

After monday, This came at the best time.

in-the-mind

January 16, 2010

There’s something about taking the train to the end of the lines. It’s a sight I won’t be seeing in a few months down the line.

A whole carriage to yourself, in which I didn’t move at all during the start of my journey.

Weird.

Well, at least it’s not just me.

Belated Proposal. ‘Pluto’

December 7, 2009

‘Pluto’: the end of nature.

Construction and Development into the New Millennium (2000-2012+)

(BA Hons Photography 3rd Year Project) (Video Installation with Sound and Lighting)

This project, thought over the summer break, is how modern society and civilization is growing at an astounding rate and how plans for the London 2012 Olympic Games is bulldozing residential housing, businesses and Greenland in order to make space for a ‘temporary’ redevelopment.

Throughout the period of Photography my views on the subject of Photography and its comparison with (and against) art have changed persistently. I’ve discovered that Photography “The Camera” is an extension of the eye, the nature of art is the only subject in which you can feel the atmosphere with Brush Strokes. I aim to completely drive photography into a new light with this project.

My Photographic work consists of myself and the environment around me. This project continues the commissioned work produced in Rome 2008,

Construction and Development into the New Millennium (2000-2012+)

The Images in this project are also intended to be taken with Polaroids, I intend to use my last batches of Polaroid film to show an unaltered perception of the changing planet, at the current date.

Climate Change remains one of the most discussed issues of our time and our response to it continues to dominate the news.

2009 has been a very challenging year with charities and organisations worldwide with strong attempts of attempting to tackle climate change, with each even more dramatic from the last.

I wish to produce an environmental awareness campaign on how we’re treating the planet, based on demolition, rebuilding and regenerating areas, leaving our CO2 ‘footstep’ behind on the planet.  I will present my piece as an installation, as a series of images edited together to form a video, which will be projected, with a collection of lights arranged to the left and right of the screen, which will be in time with the music and pace of the video.

The Music, is arranged, composed and directed by Bemani Artist ‘Naoki Maeda’ under the Alias of ‘Black∞Hole’ it first appeared in Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA2, a dance rhythm game and later in BeatMania IIDX DJ TROOPERS -15-, A DJ Simulation Game,

The Affect this has with the current video:

‘Pluto’ only features a generic video in BeatMania IIDX, not made especially for the track consisting of clips of flowers and cryptic messages in English and Japanese.

”Now this is quite distinctive in DDR, is translated to a drastic change in BPM.”

- L.E.D (IIDX Bemani Sound Director)

However, More information is leaked with the strong nature of the song in DDRX, The later instalment of the Music Rhythm games sequel, with cryptic messages and featuring a faster remix composed by U1-Asami (Yuuchi Asami) under the title of ‘Pluto -Relinquish-‘

I feel as if the videos used don’t pair with the track, as the melody is very uplifting, fast yet slow for sudden moments in time in order to raise tension.

The effect the Installation has on changing the Atmosphere of the Video is in order to raise awareness to the viewer of the issues I will be presenting.
